Rather expected game in Perth where 9th ranked West Coast Waves (3-15) were crushed by sixth ranked Logan Thunder (7-12) 84-62. It looked good early as West Coast Waves took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Logan Thunder took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 22 points. They made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Logan Thunder had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international guard Kristen Veal (176-81) who led her team to a victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Laurie Koehn (173-82, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Logan Thunder players scored in double figures. Forward Kaye Tucker (182-83) answered with 15 points and forward Darcy Garbin (185-94) added 14 points in the effort for West Coast Waves. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Logan Thunder moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bulleen B. West Coast Waves lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Logan Thunder will have a break next round. West Coast Waves will play again on the road against Logan Thunder (#6) in Loganholme.
