No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lucca (9-3) beat on the road 10th ranked Cagliari CUS (1-10) 75-66 on Sunday. Cagliari CUS trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 26-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-75 at the end of the game. Lucca forced 24 Cagliari CUS turnovers. American forward Adrienne Johnson (182-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. Portuguese forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU) contributed with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. International guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84) replied with 23 points and Swedish guard Elin Eldebrink (174-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 12 points and 9 assists in the effort for Cagliari CUS. Lucca moved-up to second place. Cagliari CUS lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Lucca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cagliari CUS will play on the road against Parma (#3) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
