Date: January 22, 2013
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#1) and Al Arabi (#4). Al Arabi was defeated at home 67-72 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Arabi. Al Rayyan had a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Boney Watson (183-78, college: Sam Houston St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Nigerian-American forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Mansour El Hadary (177-90) added 21 points in the effort for Al Arabi. Al Rayyan have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-2 record. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Jaysh.
