Regular Season Round 25: TuRi - FoA 72-85

Very expected game in Turku where 9th ranked TuRi (5-15) was defeated by third ranked Forssan Alku (13-7) 85-72. It looked good early as TuRi took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Forssan Alku had a 21-8 second period charge getting the lead and TuRi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-85. Forssan Alku made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Secily Ray (180-90, college: Wake Forest) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Henna Koponen (183-86, college: Coker) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Forssan Alku players scored in double figures. American forward Callan Taylor (182-90, college: Sacred Heart) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and international center Sofia Pelander (188-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for TuRi. Forssan Alku maintains third place with 13-7 record having five points less than leader Catz, which they share with ToPo and Honka. TuRi lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Forssan Alku will play against bottom-ranked HyPo (#11) in Hyvinkaa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TuRi will play on the road against Aanekosken in Aanekoski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
