Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between teams from Doha: Al Shamal (#8) and Al Ahli (#9). Al Shamal (3-11) smashed visiting Al Ahli (1-13) by 16 points 82-66. Al Shamal dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Al Ahli's 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Al Shamal brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by American point guard Tyvon Williams (182-87, college: S.Carolina St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals and Nigerian-American guard Mezie Nwigwe (193-88, college: Robert Morris) supported him with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds by Senegalese forward Ibou Gueye Sarr (204-83) did not help to save the game for Al Ahli. American swingman Mike Cook (193-84, college: Pittsburgh) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Al Shamal moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Qatar. Al Ahli lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Al Shamal's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Wakrah (#6) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Qatar Sports Club.
