Regular Season Round 17: Brasilia - Mogi das Cruzes 94-67
Date: January 24, 2013
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Brasilia (11-4) outscored at home 15th ranked Mogi (5-11) 94-67 on Thursday. The game without a history. Brasilia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Brasilia had a 36-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brasilia made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists. International forward Guilherme Giovannoni (202-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. Power forward Thomas Gehrke (203-82, college: UTEP) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Gustavinho Lima (178-85) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Loser Mogi dropped to the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Brasilia will face Sao Jose/Vinac (#7) at home in the next round. Mogi will play against SKY/Basquete (#8) in Aldeota.
