There was no surprise in Winnipeg, MB where 6th ranked Pronghorn (7-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Bisons (11-5) 88-76 on Friday. Bisons dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Pronghorn's 42. Bisons forced 28 Pronghorn turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. Guard Jonar Huertas (183) stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Wyatt Anders (201) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side center Derek Waldner (201) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and guard Alex Fletcher (185) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Bisons. They moved-up to third place. Loser Pronghorn keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Bisons will face again Pronghorn (#6) in Lethbridge, AB in the next round.
