Trinity Western (4-11) outlasted Mount Royal (5-10) in overtime by ten points 86-76 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mount Royal. The game was mostly controlled by Trinity Western. Mount Royal was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Mount Royal used huge pressure winning it 21-18 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 2-12. Trinity Western forced 20 Mount Royal turnovers. Mount Royal was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Holly Strom (180) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and forward Emily Knauff (180-87) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Emily Larson (168) with 23 points and 5 assists and Hillary Annich scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trinity Western maintains eighth position with 4-11 record. Mount Royal at the other side dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. Trinity Western will face again higher ranked Mount Royal (#7) in Calgary in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
