Regular Season Round 26: Ottawa - York 93-78

Rather expected game in Ottawa, ON where 6th ranked Lions (5-10) were defeated by third ranked Gee-Gees (12-4) 93-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gee-Gees. Lions was better in third quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) who scored 23 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Warren Ward (196-89) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Isaac Akeem (190-90) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard David Tyndale (180) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Five Gee-Gees and four Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gee-Gees maintains third position with 12-4 record having just -1 point less than leader UBC. Lions lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
