Regular Season Round 13: Tochigi Brex - Mitsubishi DD 88-86

A very interesting game took place in Tochigi. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (8-18) to seventh ranked Tochigi Brex (8-18) 88-86 in the fight for the sixth place. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 32-26 run, which allowed them to win the game. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi Dolphins' 30 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 34-20 including 16 on the offensive glass. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) fired 33 points (!!!) for the winners. The former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) produced 23 points and 6 assists and American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mitsubishi DD. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. Tochigi Brex's next round opponent will be higher ranked Panasonic Trians (#3) in Osaka and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
