An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Shimane. Second ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix faced 3rd placed Shimane Magic. Guests from Mikawa (20-9) defeated host Shimane Magic (17-10) 93-89. It looked good early as Shimane Magic took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hamamatsu Phoenix had a 26-23 second period charge getting the lead and Shimane Magic was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-93. Strangely Shimane Magic outrebounded Hamamatsu Phoenix 46-33 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern, agency: Top Notch Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV, agency: Top Notch Sports) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and guard Brandon Freeman (191-83, college: UALR, agency: Court Side) added 20 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Shimane Magic. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hamamatsu Phoenix have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-9 record behind leader Okinawa GK. Shimane Magic at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Fukuoka Rizing and Toyama Grouses. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shimane Magic will play again at home against the league's second-placed Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
