Rather expected game when 8th ranked Hokkaido L. (3-23) lost to fifth ranked Toshiba Thunders (14-12) in Kanagawa 80-87 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-80. Quite impressive performance for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Guard Tomokazu Abe (180-85) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) added 20 points in the effort for Hokkaido L.Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains fifth place with 14-12 record. Hokkaido L. lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Toshiba Thunders will face higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) in Tokyo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) in Tokyo.
