Regular Season Round 18: Bauru - Minas 91-59
Date: January 26, 2013
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (11-5) crushed at home 10th ranked Minas (8-9) 91-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Paschoalotto/Bauru. Minas managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Paschoalotto/Bauru shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Paschoalotto/Bauru made 10 blocks. Forward Pilar Alves (200-84) notched 18 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and Nigerian-American power forward Jefferson Agba (209-80, college: Embry Riddle) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Even 10 points and 8 rebounds by center Rafael Mineiro Rodrigues (213-87) did not help to save the game for Minas. American guard Jermaine Beal (191-87, college: Vanderbilt) added 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Paschoalotto/Bauru have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Minas keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Paschoalotto/Bauru will meet higher ranked Brasilia (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Minas will play against Tijuca TC (#18) in Rio de Janeiro and hope to secure a win.
