Rather predictable result in Langley, BC where fourth ranked Spartans (7-9) beat 7th ranked Mount Royal (2-13) 86-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-69. Spartans outrebounded Mount Royal 53-33 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tristan Smith (183-86) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Denny McDonald chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Guard Deng Awak (186) produced 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Nick Loewen (196) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartans maintains fourth position with 7-9 record, which they share with Lethbridge.
