Very predictable result when third ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (12-5) defeated on the road 10th ranked Sluc Nancy (7-10) 83-79 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sluc Nancy won third quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American point guard Dwight Buycks (190-89, college: Marquette) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Gravelines-Dunkerque's coach Christian Monschau allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American swingman Nicholas Pope (196-84, college: Oklah.Baptist) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Five Gravelines-Dunkerque and four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gravelines-Dunkerque. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Strasbourg. Loser Sluc Nancy dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face Paris-Levallois (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sluc Nancy will play against Boulazac Basket (#16).
