Important game to mention about took place in Burgos. Seventh ranked Jopisa Burgos (6-7) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Gran Canaria (5-8) 76-74 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Gran Canaria won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Rachel Allison (185-87, college: Baylor) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Berta Chumillas (173-90) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Jopisa Burgos players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Astou Ndour (196-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and international power forward Vanessa Ble (190-91) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria. Jopisa Burgos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Caja Rural. Gran Canaria at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hondar.-Irun. Jopisa Burgos will play against bottom-ranked Socinsa Bembibre (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gran Canaria will play against Conquero in Huelva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
