Regular Season Round 17: Siena - Bologna 45-66

Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 66-45 loss to seventh ranked Meccanica NB (9-7) in Siena on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Meccanica NB. Consum.it Siena managed to win third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Consum.it Siena to just 7 points in fourth quarter. International forward Irene Cigliani (177-92) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Sara Crudo (192-95) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Coach Maurizio Scanzani's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. Francesca Fabbri (174-88) responded with 19 points and 5 steals and forward Anna Oliva (177-93) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Meccanica NB moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with Ancona. Consum.it Siena lost their sixteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Meccanica NB will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Consum.it Siena will play against Napoli S.Dike (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
