Regular Season Round 25: Lakehead - Laurier 55-65

Date: January 26, 2013
There was no surprise in Thunder Bay where 6th ranked Thunderwolves (6-9) were defeated by fourth ranked Laurier (8-7) 65-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Laurier. Thunderwolves was better in fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Laurier forced 19 Thunderwolves turnovers. Guard Bree Chaput (173) fired 17 points for the winners. Forward Kimberley Yeldon (183) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Laurier players scored in double figures. Guard Ayse Kalkan (173-91) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and forward Winta Desta (180-92) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Laurier moved-up to third place, which they share with Western. Loser Thunderwolves keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
