An interesting game for Athinaikos (13-1) which played road game in Thessaloniki against 4th ranked PAOK (9-5). Third ranked Athinaikos managed to get a 12-point victory 54-42. The former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) scored 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Athinaikos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Stavroula Spanidou (180-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and American center Caila Desroches (193, college: Chicago St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Athinaikos have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and AO Ellinikou. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Athinaikos will play against bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (#12) in Liosa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. PAOK will play on the road against Terpsithea (#9) in Glyfadas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
