Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi T-A - Maccabi Haifa 76-64

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tel-Aviv. First ranked Maccabi T-A faced 3rd placed Maccabi Haifa. Host Maccabi T-A (14-1) defeated guests from Haifa (9-6) 76-64. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Haifa was better in third quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Maccabi T-A won last quarter 21-11. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. International Lior Eliyahu (206-85) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. American-Greek swingman Pat Calathes (208-85, college: St.Joseph's) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Maccabi Haifa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Maccabi Haifa at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Maccabi T-A will play against Galil Gilboa (#11) in Rosh Pina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Haifa will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
