Regular Season Round 15: Taranto - Priolo 63-47

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Priolo (4-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Taranto (9-3) 63-47. It looked good early as Priolo took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Taranto had a 16-11 second period charge getting the lead and Priolo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 47-63. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Priolo to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Taranto forced 26 Priolo turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. French power forward Nicole Antibe (187-74) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Cuban forward Tania Seino (186-73) came up with 8 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Valentina Donvito (170-78) added 11 points respectively for Priolo in the defeat. Taranto have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Parma and Lucca. Priolo at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Taranto will play against league's leader Familia Schio on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Priolo will play against Umbertide (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
