Second Stage Round 2: Denso Iris - JX Sunflowers 68-71

Seventh-ranked Denso Iris (9-15) gave a tough game to top-ranked JX Sunflowers (24-0) in Kariya on Sunday. The visitors from Kashiwa managed to secure only three-point victory 71-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Denso Iris won third quarter 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Aya Okamoto (161-91) chipped in 23 points and 4 steals during the contest. International guard Kumiko Oba (169-88) responded with 29 points and 5 assists and international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) scored 18 points. JX Sunflowers have an impressive 24-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 24-0 record. Denso Iris at the other side keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. JX Sunflowers are looking forward to face Chanson V-M (#4) in Shizuoka in the next round. Denso Iris will play on the road against Mitsubishi K. in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
