Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (9-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked Hapoel Afula (11-4) 83-76 on Tuesday. Hapoel Afula had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Shmuel Brener (188-81, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ivory Clark (198-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and the former international power forward Chris Watson (200-75, college: Niagara) added 19 points respectively. Hapoel Afula maintains third place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Ironi Nes-Ziona, which they share with Hod Hasharon and Elitzur Yavne. Loser Ironi Kiryat Ata keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Hapoel Afula will meet league's leader Ironi Nes-Ziona in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ironi Kiryat Ata will play against Maccabi Kiryat Bialik (#14) and hope to secure a win.
