Regular Season Round 22: Lucca - Matera 93-78

The most important game in the last round took place in Lucca between second ranked Matera (14-6) and ninth ranked Lucca (11-9) on Wednesday night. Matera was defeated by Lucca on the road 78-93. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-78. Lucca made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Matera turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Davide Parente (188-83) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international forward Walter Santarossa (200-78) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) replied with 23 points and 5 steals (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91, agency: Two Points) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Matera. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Lucca moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Agrigento. Matera at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Lucca is looking forward to face league's leader Torino on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Matera will play against Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria and is hoping to win this game.
