Regular Season Round 19: Suzano - Palmeiras 79-87

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Palmeiras (#17) and Suzano (#16). Suzano was defeated at home 79-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Suzano trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 29-22 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-87 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Palmeiras made 13 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Caleb Brown (182-87, college: Austin Peay St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Guto Pereira (190-83) helped adding 23 points and 5 blocks. At the losing side point guard Andre Pizzolato (179-92) responded with 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Paulo Nery (188-81) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palmeiras (3-15) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with defeated Suzano. Suzano lost their third game in a row. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
