There was no surprise when 10th ranked Viterbo (5-11) was edged at home by seventh ranked Ancona (10-7) 57-55 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-14. But Viterbo won second period 10-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Monique Ngo Ndjock (187-85) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chilean-Spanish forward Valentina Aragonese (173-79, agency: Players Group) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Ancona's coach Luca Piccionne allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Czech center Martina Rejchova (195-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and guard Giulia Bernardini (176-91) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Viterbo. Ancona moved-up to sixth place in South. Viterbo lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Ancona will face Meccanica NB (#7) in Bologna in the next round. Viterbo will play on the road against Min.Battipaglia.
