Regular Season Round 28: Victoria - UNBC 89-80

Rather predictable result when second ranked Vikies (12-5) won against 6th ranked Timberwolves (5-12) in Victoria, BC 89-80 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-80. Vikies outrebounded Timberwolves 45-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for Terrell Evans who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Michael Acheampong contributed with 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Navjot Bains (198) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Sam Raphael (188) added 15 points in the effort for Timberwolves. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vikies have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-5 record having just three points less than leader Alberta, which they share with Saskatchewan. Timberwolves lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Vikies will face again Timberwolves (#6) in Prince George, BC in the next round.
