Regular Season Round 28: Alberta - Manitoba 92-83

The game between closely ranked teams ended with their biggest opponent Bisons' (12-6) road loss to first ranked Golden Bears (14-3) in Edmonton, AB 83-92 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-83. Golden Bears made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Bisons were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for naturalized Kenyan guard Kenneth Otieno (188) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Forward Sahr Saffa (191-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Jonar Huertas (183) replied with 23 points and American guard Stephan Walton (178-87, college: Valdosta St.) added 18 points and 8 assists in the effort for Bisons. Four Golden Bears and five Bisons players scored in double figures. Golden Bears maintains first position with 14-3 record. Bisons at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. Golden Bears will face again Bisons (#3) in Winnipeg, MB in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
