Not a big story in a game in Urumqi where 7th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (15-14) was rolled over by fifth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (17-11) 129-110. Xinjiang Flying Tige forced 19 Shanxi Zhongyu turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Shanxi Zhongyu was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) notched 28 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and the former international point guard Tal Co (191-91) supported him with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 47 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) did not help to save the game for Shanxi Zhongyu. International forward JiangPeng Duan (197-90) added 27 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to fourth place. Shanxi Zhongyu lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Guangsha L.. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play against Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#9) in Hangzhou in the next round where they are favorite. Shanxi Zhongyu will have a break next round.
