Date: February 1, 2013
Very expected game when 16th ranked Qingdao Eagles (8-20) were defeated at home by ninth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (15-14) 129-122. It looked good early as Qingdao Eagles took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zhejiang Guangsha Lions had a 35-22 second period charge getting the lead and Qingdao Eagles were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 122-129. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Panamanian-American swingman Gary Forbes (201-85, college: Virginia) notched a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American-Puerto Rican center Peter John Ramos (222-85) supported him with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds by American center Chris Daniels (211-84, college: Limoges) did not help to save the game for Qingdao Eagles. His fellow American import swingman Tracy McGrady (203-79) added 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Shanxi Zh.
