Regular Season Round 27: Lethbridge - Brandon 62-42

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Brandon (0-17) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Lethbridge (9-8) 62-42 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Lethbridge. Brandon was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brandon to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Lethbridge dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Brandon's 18. Lethbridge forced 19 Brandon turnovers and outrebounded them 34-22 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Erin Skippon (183-88) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Ali Cameron (163) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Forward Chantel Gaslard (188-91) answered with 8 points and forward Aimee Johnston (185-93) added 5 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Brandon. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lethbridge. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Alberta. Brandon lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 17 games lost. Lethbridge will face again Brandon (#8) at home in the next round.
