Regular Season Round 27: Ryerson - York 61-70

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Toronto: York (#7) and Ryerson (#5). Ryerson was defeated at home 61-70 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ryerson. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-11. But Ryerson won second period 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for French guard Cyrielle Recoura (172-91) who led her team to a victory with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Nadia Qahwash (170) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four York players scored in double figures. point guard Cassandra Nofuente (175) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Silvana Jez (185) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Ryerson. York maintains seventh place with 3-13 record. Loser Ryerson keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. York's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Toronto to the arena Toronto.
