Haukar (#5) was upset in Reykjavik by eighth ranked Fjolnir 78-66. The game was mostly controlled by Fjolnir. Haukar was better in second period 17-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Heidrun Harpa Rikhardsdottir (173-92) accounted for 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Siarre Evans (178-88, college: E.Tenn.St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Margret Halfdanardottir (173-94) added 24 points respectively for Haukar in the defeat. Fjolnir maintains eighth place with 3-16 record. Haukar lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Fjolnir will play against higher ranked Grindavik (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Haukar will play against KR in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
