Rather expected game when 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (8-20) lost to third ranked Panasonic Trians (17-11) in Osaka 74-81 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But Tochigi Brex won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tochigi Brex 43-32 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Nigerian-British center Olumide Oyedeji (210-81) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Panasonic Trians have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-11 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Loser Tochigi Brex keeps the sixth place with 20 games lost. Panasonic Trians will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in Tokyo in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo.
