Very expected game in London, ON where 8th ranked Mustangs (2-15) were crushed by third ranked Marauders (10-7) 91-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Marauders led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mustangs to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Mustangs 43-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Marauders shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Mustangs' players. Mustangs were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Joe Rocca (193) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and guard Rohan Boney (193) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Marauders players scored in double figures. Guard Ryan Higgins (193) responded with 13 points and forward Peter Scholtes (196) scored 5 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marauders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-7 record having three points less than leader UBC. Loser Mustangs keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. Marauders will face Gryphons (#5) in Guelph, ON in the next round. Mustangs will play on the road against Warriors in Waterloo, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
