Regular Season Round 20: Bauru - Mogi das Cruzes 87-84
Date: February 2, 2013
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Mogi (6-13) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (13-6) 87-84 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mogi trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 23-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-87 at the end of the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Paschoalotto/Bauru made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was international guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western, agency: Veracity Sports, LLC) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. International forward Guilherme Pereira (190-91) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Five Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Forward Caio Ranches (192-87) produced 22 points and 4 assists and power forward Thomas Gehrke (203-82, college: UTEP) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Paschoalotto/Bauru moved-up to third place, which they share with Uberlandia. Loser Mogi keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will face Uberlandia (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mogi will play against Tijuca TC (#18) in Rio de Janeiro.
