Regular Season Round 18: Strasbourg - Poitiers 69-63
Date: February 2, 2013
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Strasbourg IG (13-5) defeated at home 14th ranked Poitiers (6-12) 69-63 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Poitiers won second period 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Pro One Sports) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. American-Dominican swingman Ricardo Greer (197-78, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Strasbourg IG players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Anthony Smith (196-86, college: Liberty) who recorded 22 points and American-Italian guard Anthony Dobbins (194-81, college: Richmond) added 5 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Strasbourg IG have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gravelines. Loser Poitiers dropped to the fifteenth place with 12 games lost. Strasbourg IG will face Sluc Nancy (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Poitiers will play against Paris-Levallois.
