Regular Season Round 28: Lethbridge - Brandon 63-36

Date: February 2, 2013
There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Brandon (0-18) was outplayed on the road by fifth ranked Lethbridge (10-8) 63-36 on Saturday. The game without a history. Lethbridge led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brandon to just 6 points in second quarter. Lethbridge forced 21 Brandon turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Katlyn Olsen (168) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Kimberley Veldman (188) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Chantel Gaslard (188-91) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jaynell Gillett (188-90) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lethbridge have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Alberta. Loser Brandon still closes the standings with 18 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
