Thirteenth-ranked Astoria Bydg. (8-14) gave a tough game to third ranked MKS DG (14-8) in Bydgoszcz on Sunday. The visitors from Dabrowa Gornicza managed to secure only six-point victory 110-104. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 30-19 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 6-point victory in overtime. Guard Lukasz Grzegorzewski (192-84) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Michal Woloszyn (202-84) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Dorian Szyttenholm (194-83) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Sebastian Laydych (203-87) added 23 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. MKS DG maintains third position with 14-8 record having seven points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Newly promoted Astoria Bydg. keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. MKS DG will meet at home league's leader Slask Wroclaw in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Astoria Bydg. will play against Znicz Basket (#10) in Pruszkow and hope to secure a win.
