Regular Season Round 31: Jiangsu D. - Qingdao E. 113-101

Rather predictable result in Nanjing where twelfth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (12-17) beat bottom-ranked Qingdao Eagles (8-21) 113-101. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Dragons. Qingdao Eagles was better in second period 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Dragons dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Qingdao Eagles' 30. Jiangsu Dragons forced 19 Qingdao Eagles turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. The former international point guard XueFeng Hu (185-80) accounted for 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. American swingman Tracy McGrady (203-79) came up with 21 points and 4 assists and forward YongGang Zhao (202-82) added 24 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jiangsu Dragons maintains twelfth place with 12-17 record. Qingdao Eagles at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 21 games lost. Jiangsu Dragons' next round opponent will be higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#4) in Urumqi and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Qingdao Eagles will play at home against Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#7) in Hangzhou.
