An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nagoya. Top-ranked JX Sunflowers faced 3rd ranked Toyota A.. Guests from Kashiwa (26-0) smashed host Toyota A. (19-7) 79-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toyota A.. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Toyota A. was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toyota A. to just 7 points in first quarter. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota A.'s 30. They outrebounded Toyota A. 48-31 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. JX Sunflowers brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. International point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. International guard Emi Kudeken (165-84) replied with 11 points and 7 assists and center Rina Kawasaki (180-88) added 16 points in the effort for Toyota A.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. JX Sunflowers have an impressive 26-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 26-0 record. Toyota A. at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Chanson V-M. JX Sunflowers will play against Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Toyota A. will play at home against Niigata (#6) in Tokyo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
