Regular Season Round 15: Keflavik - KFI 111-102

Very expected game when 9th ranked KFI (5-10) lost on the road to fifth ranked Keflavik (10-5) 111-102 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 111-102. Keflavik looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Keflavik made 16 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 15 rebounds and 6 blocks. point guard Valur Valsson (182-94) accounted for 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Keflavik's coach Sigurour Ingimundarson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) came up with 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and guard Kristjan Andresson (188-91) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively for KFI in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Keflavik have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted KFI keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Keflavik will meet Fjolnir (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. KFI will play against Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and hope to secure a win.
