Top ranked UFV (15-4) recorded its fourth loss in Abbotsford on Friday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Thompson Rivers (14-5) in overtime 72-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UFV. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game in overtime by 2 points. Thompson Rivers made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 UFV turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by UFV helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Tracy Kocs (178) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Jen Ju (170) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Aieisha Luyken (173) who recorded 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Nicole Wierks (178) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. UFV's coach Al Tuchscherer tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Thompson Rivers have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 14-5 record behind leader McGill, which they share with Victoria. UFV at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. Thompson Rivers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. UFV will play again at home against Thompson Rivers in Kamloops and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
