Seventh-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (8-22) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (18-12) in Kanagawa. Toshiba Thunders managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-12. But Mitsubishi Dolphins won third quarter 23-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds and Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Mitsubishi Dolphins in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 22 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will play against Tochigi Brex (#6) at home in the next round. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and hope to get back on the winning track.
