Regular Season Round 15: Toyota Alvark - Tochigi Brex 79-81

The most exciting game of round 15 in the JBL took place in Tokyo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Toyota Alvark (23-7) to sixth ranked Tochigi Brex (9-21) 81-79 on Friday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota Alvark's 28. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 72.7 percentage. It was a great evening for the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 assists. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) helped adding 20 points. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) scored 25 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex maintains sixth place with 9-21 record. Defending champion Toyota Alvark keeps the second position with seven games lost. Tochigi Brex are looking forward to face higher ranked Toshiba Thunders (#4) in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyota Alvark will play on the road against Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and is hoping to win this game.
