Regular Season Round 15: Panasonic T. - Hitachi SR 65-51
Date: February 8, 2013
Not a big story in a game in Osaka where 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (16-14) were defeated by third ranked Panasonic Trians (18-12) 65-51 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Panasonic Trians. Hitachi Sunrockers was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panasonic Trians dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Sunrockers to just 6 points in third quarter. It was a great evening for American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. The former international point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Panasonic Trians. They maintain third place with 18-12 record having seven points less than leader Aishin SH, which they share with Toshiba BT. Hitachi Sunrockers lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Panasonic Trians will face bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
