Regular Season Round 21: Chartres - Monaco 66-64

A very close game took place in Chartres between Chartres and Monaco. Eleventh ranked Chartres (8-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Monaco (9-8). Chartres managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Monaco. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 19-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Chartres looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) stepped up and scored 24 points and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Senegalese power forward Vincent Mendy (204-83) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was naturalized Tunisian power forward Mehdi Labeyrie-Hafsi (203-78) with 20 points and forward Olivier Bardet (203-80) scored 3 points and 11 rebounds. Monaco's coach Jean-Michel Senegal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chartres maintains eleventh place with 8-11 record. Newly promoted Monaco dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Chartres will meet higher ranked Blois (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Monaco will play against Union Rennes and hope to secure a win.
