Not a big story in a game in Lennoxville, QC where 3rd ranked Stingers (7-6) were defeated by first ranked Gaiters (9-4) 84-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gaiters. Stingers was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Stingers were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Jeremy Leonard-Smith (193) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Mike Andrews (208) who added 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Gaiters players scored in double figures. Forward Evens Laroche (193) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Kyle Desmarais (188-87, college: Cent.Conn.St.) scored 15 points. Stingers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gaiters have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-4 record, which they share with McGill. Loser Stingers keep the third place with six games lost. Gaiters will face Rouge et Or (#5) in Quebec City, QC in the next round.
