Regular Season Round 32: UPEI - Cape Breton 90-92

Date: February 9, 2013
Third-ranked Panthers (9-7) gave a tough game to top-ranked Capers (16-0) in Charlottetown, PEI. The visitors from Sydney, NS managed to secure only two-point victory 92-90. However their fans expected easier game. Panthers were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 47-42 second half run of Capers. Capers had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Kayon Mayers (185) who scored that evening 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sean Mccormick (196) supported him with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Capers players scored in double figures. Capers' coach Matt Skinn used entire bench in such tough game. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by forward Geoff Doane (196) did not help to save the game for Panthers. Deontay Smith added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Capers have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-0 record. Panthers at the other side keep the third place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
