Regular Season Round 19: Cholet - Gravelines 83-85

Ninth-ranked Cholet (8-11) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (14-5) on Saturday. The visitors from Gravelines managed to secure only two-point victory 85-83. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 28-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gravelines-Dunkerque dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cholet's 40. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Ludovic Vaty (206-88, college: Moraine Valley CC) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward J.K. Edwards (202-82, college: UNLV) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Gravelines-Dunkerque's coach Christian Monschau used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Marcus Goree (201-77, college: W.Virginia) answered with 16 points and 8 assists and the other American import guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: W.Kentucky) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Cholet. Four Cholet players scored in double figures. Gravelines-Dunkerque have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-5 record, which they share with Strasbourg. Cholet at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque is looking forward to face Le Mans (#4) at home in the next round. Cholet will play against Boulazac Basket (#16) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
